The best way to prevent this is to take a break from your screen every hour or so and give your eyes a 10 minute rest from all that close-up focusing. Restrict alcohol intake. Drinking a limited amount of alcohol will not affect your eyesight, but excessive or binge drinking over a period of time may have far-reaching negative consequences.
