Will You Need Medical Leave For Laser Eye Surgery? Miami Eye Specialists Answer Your Question!

As with most types of surgeries, every patient reacts differently to laser eye surgery in Miami.  One thing to keep in mind is that almost all patients will have blurry vision, eye irritation, tearing and light sensitivity for up to six hours after the surgery.

Many patients choose to do light work (such as working on a computer) just hours after their laser eye surgery is completed.  Obviously, completing higher risk activities or operating heavy machinery will require stability of vision and patients will need more time to adapt to their new sight.

After The Surgery

All patients who undergo laser eye surgery are instructed to use steroid and antibiotic eye drops for up to a week following the surgery and working on a computer, watching television or reading won’t have an effect on the successful outcome of the surgery.

There are, however, a few restrictions to take note of in order to accelerate recovery time, so that you can return to work sooner:

  • Don’t rub the eye or eyelid,
  • Don’t squeeze the eyelid shut,
  • Don’t wear any eye makeup and
  • No swimming for up to four days after surgery.

Routine work, jogging and walking won’t put pressure on the eye and is allowed a day after the surgery.  If you would like to learn more information regarding laser eye surgery and its many benefits, then contact The Laser Center of Coral Gables.  We are passionate about providing our valued patients with the very best services and our laser eye surgery in Miami is committed to helping increase your quality of life.
